RETALIATION

Has your employer punished you for reporting illegal conduct or speaking up about harassment or discrimination in the workplace? It is illegal for employers to treat an employee differently because he or she filed a complaint of discrimination, participated in an investigation or helped others complain about discrimination.

 

Employees have a right to stand up for themselves under federal and state antidiscrimination and wage and hour laws. If your employer retaliates against you for expressing your concerns, including by demoting you, denying you a raise or bonus, disciplining you, terminating your employment or reassigning your job duties, you may have a retaliation claim.
